Winter hiking is particularly challenging and one many don’t attempt. Achieving that goal of reaching the summit is still extremely rewarding any time of the year. Often a challenge that one may return at another time to repeat.

There are trails on the property but Baxter State Park is nearby.

Silver Lake Activities

Snowshoeing

Enjoy the crunch of snow as you hike your way throughout the Village of Lee’s secret scenes of hidden beauty. Snowshoeing is a fun activity that people of all ages can enjoy as a group. Or, as an individual who is looking to just explore and enjoy every bit of life.

Take a day trip of snowshoeing or perhaps schedule a memorable over night journey of snowshoeing and winter camping. It could be a moonlit night with a star filled sky or the quiet stillness of the woods as the snow falls. Learn and experience the building of your own snow cave. End the night sipping a cup of hot beverage, by yourself or with others. A simple, perfect gift for anyone who loves nature is to bring them on an adventure. So good for the body and soul.

If it’s snowing, then we are going!  Bundle up and come with your best winter outdoor boots! Staying warm and dry is key. Join us whether it be a snow day off from school or just a beautiful sunny winter day for a local snowshoe hike!

Ice Skating

Ice skating is a must when the weather cooperates. Limited skates available, bring your own if possible. Hockey gear if that’s your passion. Night time skates with a bonfire are the best. As the weather permits there will be ice for everyone’s enjoyment. Dressing warm and staying dry is key to being able to enjoy these winter activities.

Small Water Crafts

A canoe, kayaks, small sail boat & paddle boards are available. Non-guests may rent water crafts for 1/2 or full day with paddles. Open boating available from Mid May-Mid October.

Try a peaceful paddle around Silver Lake. Sometimes spotting our sacred loons and eagles. Or maybe a scheduled moon and starlight paddle will do to top off a perfect day. Just about anything is possible.
